Newcastle United have confirmed that they will be backing midfielder Joey Barton after he finished his six month jail sentence and returned to St. James' Park. The shamed player was rumoured to have been sacked by his employers.
The official club website www.nufc.co.uk said: "Newcastle United officials can confirm they have met with Joey Barton today, following which it has been agreed by everyone involved that Joey will remain with the club.
"The club will not be making any further comment at this time."
