According to reports from Germany, Arsenal are preparing a massive offer for Croatian international midfielder Ivan Rakitic. Arsene Wenger has been monitoring the Schalke 04 talent for over 3 years; since he began his career at FC Basel in Switzerland.

The player has appeared regularly for Croatia; where he decided to pledge his allegiance despite appearing for Switzerland's under-21 side from an early age.



Rakitic has been a regular at Schalke since making his debut in July 2007, and started the season off in the Bundesliga this year in great form, setting up two assists.



It is understood that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will be ready to make an offer of £10 million initially.
