Newcastle ready to offload Geremi

Newcastle ready to offload Geremi

29 January 2009 - 16:46

Newcastle boss Joe Kinnear thinks Geremi is surplus to requirements and is keen to offload him.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • The former captain of the club, Geremi, is having a poor run of form and Kinnear thinks he should be offloaded. He might be true as at 30, Geremi does not have many years in his belt.

He joined Newcastle from Chelsea after playing four seasons for them. He has never been a regular at Stamford Bridge, but, enjoyed a good reputation in Newcastle United.

He has been the "free kick specialist" at the St. James' Park and has scored two goals in 39 matches for them so far. The Cameroonian midfielder and defender is known for his work rate and determination, although his footballing skills are not as good many around.

KInnear's decision to offload him might be devastating for the club, because he has shown great leadership qualities. The Toonside might lose a part of their "backbone"!

In addition to Geremi, Newcastle is on the verge of losing many players. Shay Given and N'Zogbia have many bids from top clubs in the Premeirship.

Latest reports suggest that Given has already joined Man City for a fee of £8.5m.
