  • Sunderland have landed Manchester City's out of favour centre-back Tal Ben Haim on a loan deal. They Isreali centre-back is more likely to enjoy a regular first team spot at the Sunderland back wall.

The Black Cats boss Ricky Sbragia said that he needs players like Ben Haim who has top level football experience and international exposure. Sunderland is fighting relegation and the defence had been shaky in the recent times.

The israeli is a solid centre-back and had great performances under his belt when played under Sam Allardyce in Bolton which earned him a call from Chelsea. Although Ben Haim was not in great form in recent times and has not been enjoying regular first team football at Man City, Sunderland could benefit from his signing.

The player will surely add depth to the squad and his leadership qualities will certainly benefit the whole team.

When asked, the boss, Ricky Sbragia said “It’s a position we’ve been short in, so I’m delighted that Tal is joining."

Ben Haim will play for Sunderland until the end of the season, and Sunderland has an option to buy him for £1m.
