Portsmouth to play first team

Portsmouth to play first team

27 September 2007 - 20:59

Harry Redknapp has insisted that Portsmouth will continue to fight to try and win the Carling Cup. Portsmouth have reached the last 16, and Redknapp insists he will play his strongest possible team for the rest of the tournament.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Questions were raised about Portsmouth's ambition as Harry Redknapp played only one player in the Carling Cup game with Burnley that also played in the previous Premiership game with Blackburn.

However, Redknapp is to now field a stronger side, "Probably in the next round I'll field my best team.

"We'll see who we get (in Saturday's draw). We have won two games in the competition now and with luck we can go further.

"I think I know now roughly what my best team is, but it can change.

"You can have a defeat or somebody drops form and sometimes it is affected by the opposition but we can field practically two good teams now from our squad and it is nice to have competition for places."
