Patrick Helmes to Everton?

Patrick Helmes to Everton?

15 May 2009 - 08:33

Everton could make a shock move for Bayer Leverkusen's talismanic forward Patrick Helmes in the summer, if the rumours this morning are to be believed. It is understood that David Moyes is looking for another top class striker to add to his squad, and the German international fits the bill.

  • The 25 year old has 12 caps to his name for his national team already, and is fast becoming a well-respected frontman in the Bundesliga.

Helmes' contract with Leverkusen is not due to expire until 2013, which could prove a big hurdle for the Toffees, who may have to spend as much as £10 million to lure the German to Goodison Park.

However, with Moyes' lack of attacking options due to injury building, it is understood that the Scot has made signing a striker his main priority this summer.
