Tigers trying to tempt Owen

Tigers trying to tempt Owen

22 June 2009 - 11:06

Hull City have launched an audacious bid to try and land Newcastle striker Michael Owen.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • The 29-year-old frontman is available on a free transfer if the Tigers can come up with the right financial package for the former Liverpool star.

Owen is looking for a move back into the Premier League after Newcastle upset the odds and suffered relegation last season as he attempts to get himself back into the thoughts of England boss Fabio Capello ahead of next summer's World Cup.

Tigers boss Phil Brown wants to bolster his forward line and is in talks with Manchester United frontman Fraizer Campbell over a move to the KC Stadium after United accepted a £6million offer for the England under-21 ace.

Brown is dreaming of partnering Campbell with Owen ahead of next season, but realises Owen's huge wage demads could be a potential stumbling block.

Brown said in the Hull Daily Mail: "It's something that has been sounded out as a possibility, but, as yet, there has been no offer put to Michael.

"He has got a proven track record as a goalscorer and that's an area we are keen to strengthen, but it would have to be on the right terms."
