Manchester United are set to make a shock move for Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh, according to reports from France today. The striker has been linked with a variety of clubs around Europe including Arsenal and Bayern Munich.
Chamakh could leave Bordeaux for free next summer, and his boss Laurent Blanc is reluctant to let the forward leave on a free.
It is understood that United are poised to bid £7 million for Chamakh, which Bordeaux will reluctantly accept.
Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly a little concerned with his lack of backup firepower at Old Trafford and Chamakh is at the top of his shopping list in January.
