Carrick adds to Man Utd crisis

Carrick adds to Man Utd crisis

04 October 2007 - 17:59

Man Utd's injury crisis has seemingly worsened after the news that England international midfielder Michael Carrick has picked up an injury. The fractured right elbow will keep Carrick out of action for up to six weeks.

  • Man Utd believe they can sign Bournemouth star for £64m
  • Chelsea tipped to make shock move for Marcus Rashford
  • Although he appeared fine immediately after the game, x-rays have revealed the full extent of the problem, giving Sir Alex Ferguson a bit of an injury headache considering Owen Hargreaves is also on the injury list.

Ferguson confirmed that Hargreaves had received an injection to counter a growing problem of tendinitis in his knee, and he will be missing for at least four weeks.

With Darren Fletcher also ruled out through injury, Paul Scholes is the only recognised central midfielder in Man Utd's squad.
