Stoke chase Woodgate

Stoke chase Woodgate

20 June 2011 - 01:48

Stoke City may make an offer for former England international Jonathan Woodgate after Tottenham released the defender. The player has suffered a variety of injury problems that have blighted his entire career, but Stoke will offer the player an olive branch and a return to the Premiership.

  • Man Utd star could be fit for the FA Cup final
  • Chelsea close in on signing Brazilian wonderkid

  • It is understood that Stoke will offer Woodgate a pay-as-you-play plus basic salary to join the club on a two year contract.

Woodgate refused to sign a similar deal with Tottenham this year, as he was worried that he would not be able to play first-team football enough at White Hart Lane.

It is believed that Stoke boss Tony Pulis will contact Woodgate's representative as soon as the coach returns from holiday on July 1st.
