Chelsea's Russian billionaire owner Roman Abramovich has insisted he will spend money in order to keep the club at the top of the Premiership and will not forget to invest.

"He’ll do whatever it takes to make it work," a Chelsea insider said. “He wanted rid of Jose Mourinho because it was all about Jose Mourinho; he’d had enough of that. He knew it would be unpopular but he has never been more determined to make it right: his reputation is at stake.



"The way he was celebrating the goals [in the 2-1 win in Valencia] on Wednesday night shows that Chelsea still means the world to him."
