Chelsea put Luka Modric deal on hold

Chelsea have cooled their interest in Croatian midfielder Luka Modric for the time being. Tottenham's star midfielder was the subject of fierce interest from their London rivals.

According to reports, Chelsea had a series of offers rejected by Tottenham for the Croat, who is valued by Spurs in the region of 40m GBP.

It appears that Chelsea already made offers of around 22m GBP and 27m GBP for the player; but Tottenham refused to do business with their London neighbours for the player.
