Newcastle trial for Jeje Lalpekhlua?

There are reports in India that suggest Newcastle may offer a surprise one month trial to Indian starlet Jeje Lalpekhlua before the January transfer window. The 20 year old striker is widely regarded as the hottest prospect in Indian football.

Whilst Jeje Lalpekhlua may not be the big name that Newcastle fans were hoping to sign this summer, if the report is true, this transfer move could represent huge revenue opportunities for Newcastle, who have reportedly been tracking the Pune striker for over two months.

Since making his debut this year for the full India international team, Lalpekhlua already has scored 5 goals in 8 games.

He spent last season on loan at the Indian Arrows, where he almost scored a goal every game. He then returned to his old club Pune in early July.

The report from India suggests that Newcastle will give the international striker the opportunity to impress in a reserve game.

It is believed a permanent transfer can be agreed for a nominal fee.
