Torres out of Liverpool derby

Fernando Torres has been ruled out of his first Merseyside derby after injuring his leg during training with Spain. The striker is expected to be out for at least 10 days. Spain are already without Valencia striker David Villa for the matches against Finland and Denmark.

He will undergo further tests over the weekend but is definitely out of Spain's Euro 2008 qualifier against Denmark on Saturday as well as next Wednesday's friendly against Finland.

News of the injury will be come as a major blow to Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez and Spain coach Luis Aragones, who is now likely to call on Espanyol's Raul Tamudo against Denmark.
