Sunderland turn to Mohammed Abdellaoue

After missing out on the signature of Papiss Demba Cisse, Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill has been considering a move for Hannover and Norway international striker Mohammed Abdellaoue. The Black Cats have been linked with a £7.6 million move for the former Valerenga striker.

The 26 year old has been in sterling form this year for German side Hannover 96, and ahs scored 9 goals in 14 Bundesliga games, helping shoot "Die Roten" up to their current position of 7th place.

Interestingly, Arsenal were last year Arsenal-hunt-Mohammed-Abdellaoue.html">linked with a move for the frontman but their efforts to sign the striker were scuppered after Hannover demanded a significant transfer fee.

Despite Hannover's best efforts to keep the Norwegian at the club, it appears they may lose out to the huge contract on offer at the Stadium of Light. Martin O'Neill is desperate to find a striker before the transfer window closes; and reports indicate a deal could be completed in the next few days.
