Wigan to sign Jefferson Montero

Wigan are in the race to sign Jefferson Montero from Mexican club Morelia. The 23-year-old winger is a full Ecuadorian international and manager Roberto Martinez has had his scouts watching the player for over three months.

Montero only completed a move to Morelia from Villarreal last year, but some impressive displays for the Mexican club have seen him linked with a surprise move to Wigan. The Latics have been known for their scouting network in South America, with a number of players signed from the region in the past. It is understood that the player can leave for around £2.8 million.
