Bayer Leverkusen have seized the transfer of Italian right-back Giulio Donati from Serie A side Inter Milan. It has been reported that Donati has signed a four-year deal at BayArena, although the signing fees has not been disclosed.

The defender has spent his past couple of seasons on loan at Serie B clubs. He has also represented his national team at Under-20 and Under-21, so he would be looking upon this move as an opportunity to make an impact in the Bundesliga.

In his talks with the club website, he said, "Bayer is a top German club and also has a good reputation in Italy"

He added to it his intentions to perform well for the new owners.

"I am looking forward to the Bundesliga and being in the Champions League this season with Leverkusen is a very special challenge.”

"I'll give everything to achieve our goals with Bayer."

Donati has drawn attention from Leverkusen director Wolfgang Wooden, following his promising performance in Italy’s run to the finals of European U21 Championship, where his side saw a 4-2 defeat from their opponents, the Spanish U21 team.

Wolfgang praised the youngster and expressed his hope in the promising 23 year old.

"With Giulio Donati we have a young, aspiring and committed player, which fits perfectly into the profile of Bayer Leverkusen," he said.

"He was a mainstay of the successful Italian team at the Under-21 European Championships in Israel.

"We are convinced that Donati will successfully fill the position of right-back."
