Stoke City complete Erik Pieters move
Stoke have wrapped up a deal to bring Dutch defender Erik Pieters to the Brittannia Stadium. The left back has signed a three year contract with Mark Hughes' side and ends a long road to the Premier League for the former PSV Eindhoven man.
Pieters had been linked with a move to Newcastle last year and Fulham the year before that, but both times a deal could not be agreed with his former club.
This time around a 3.2 million Euro fee could be agreed.
"While Erik is predominantly a left-back, he has also played for his country as a central defender, so he gives us other options," said Mark Hughes of the new signing.
"We need good quality in our starting eleven and good quality back-up for all areas, which Erik will certainly give us defensively."
