Dortmund Confirm Much Awaited Mkhitaryan Signing

With Borussia Dortmund having confirmed the signing of Henrikh Mkhitaryan on their official website, it is understood now that Liverpool have lost the bid to the German biggies. The Armenia forward is now expected to sign a contract with the Bundesliga outfit, following successful talks between BVB and Shakhtar.

The 24-year-old will now move to Dortmund in a 4 year deal for a fee reported to be in the range of €25 million. Mkhitaryan has completed his medical with BVB on Monday.

The much sought after midfielder is expected to join the Bundesliga runner up team as a replacement for Mario Gotze who departed for their arch-rivals Bayern Munich this summer. Liverpool were strongly linked with a bid for the Armenian forward but Dortmund, who can also offer him Champions League football, were successful in luring him to Bundesliga.

A club statement on the official website of Dortmund read:

"Borussia Dortmund AG and FC Shakhtar Donetsk have agreed on the transfer of the Armenian international Henrikh Mkhitaryan, born on 21 January 1989, to Borussia Dortmund.

"Borussia Dortmund and the player have reached a general agreement about the financial conditions of a contract running until 30 June 2017. Details are yet to be agreed upon."

Mkhitaryan scored 44 goals in 106 matches for Shakhtar.
