Wigan chairman confirms Mclean deal
Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan has confirmed that a fee has been agreed with Sunderland over the transfer of midfielder James Mclean.
Whelan revealed that they are currently discussing personal terms with the 24 year old Republic of Ireland international.
"We have got to have discussions with his agent but we have agreed a fee with Sunderland and the lad is here talking to us now," Whelan told Sky Sports News.
Wigan, who won the FA Cup last season despite going down to the Championship, have appointed Owen Coyle as their new manager after Roberto Martinez left for Everton.
Coyle has been busy this summer as he aims bring the Latics back to the top flight in their first attempt itself.
The left footed winger has been receiving a lot of stick from the Sunderland fans ever since he chose not to wear a jersey with remembrance poppy in a match against Everton.
New manager Paolo Di Caio apparently thinks Mclean is surplus to requirements at the club and has asked the player to look for a new club this summer.
