Martin O'Neill to take Republic of Ireland job

Martin O'Neill has been installed as the favourite to take the vacant Republic of Ireland job, and is expected to name Roy Keane as his assistant. Ireland have been managerless since the departure of Giovanni Trappatoni.

It is understood that O'Neill has already agreed terms on a three year contract to take charge of Ireland and that he will be announced as the country's new manager on Sunday afternoon.

Roy Keane is expected to be named as his assistant ahead of the international break in two weeks time.
