Xabi Alonso signs new Real Madrid contract
Real Madrid star midfielder Xabi Alonso has put pen to paper on a new two year contract with his club. The signing will cool the interest of Chelsea, who had made the Spanish international a top priority signing during the month of January.
The 32-year-old's contract was due to expire at the Bernabeu this summer, but the former Liverpool man has now agreed to stay put for a further two years thus ending the interest of several of Europe's top sides.
"This will continue to be my home for two more years. I am very happy to tell you. Come on Madrid!", wrote Alonso on his official Twitter account.
