Fulham eye a deal for Spurs outcast

Fulham are looking to sign Tottenham Hotspur’s German midfielder Lewis Holtby. The 23 year old arrived at white Hart Lane last January from Bundesliga club Schalke.

The Germany international has struggled for playing time in his second season at Spurs and has only made 12 Premier League appearances with only two of those under new manager Tim Sherwood.

Bundesliga clubs Schalke and Borussia Dortmund were interested to take Holtby back to Germany but a transfer fee of seven million pounds allied to a weekly wage of 75000 pounds seem to have quashed any potential deal.

The Cottagers now seem to be interested in former Mainz man who could arrive at Craven cottage in a swap deal which will include former Spurs player Dimitar Berbatov going the other way.

Player’s agent Marcus Noack has admitted that it remains likely that the midfielder will leave but the matter is in club’s hands.
