Newcastle United are looking to sign Luuk De Jong permanently. The striker is on loan at St. James’s Park till the end of the season from Bundesliga club Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Daily Mail are reporting that there is an agreement between the two clubs to make the signing of the 23 year old a permanent one for 6 million pounds should he impress and the noises coming out of the club suggest that he has done that already.

This is what Magpies manager Alan Pardew had to say about the former FC Twente man,

“Luuk’s settled in very well. He knows Tim [Krul] very well and they look like brothers at times, but I thought he did very well on Saturday against a really fired up Chelsea.”

“Jose had Chelsea in a place where they were thinking "no slip-ups after beating Manchester City" and I thought he did everything he could on Saturday with the service he had. He never gave the ball away he was strong and took the ball in.

‘He didn’t have much goal threat but we didn’t give him those opportunities. The rest of his play I thought was terrific, I was pleased with that and I thought he was too.”

De Jong has already had more minutes on the pitch than he had at Gladbach in the first half of the season.
