Gerard Pique signs Barcelona contract

Gerard Pique has put pen to paper on a fresh contract with Barcelona. The Nou Camp star, formerly of Manchester United, had been locked in talks with his club for over three months regarding the signing of a new deal.

The 27-year-old has signed a deal that will see him stay with Barca until the end of the 2018-2019 campaign. The defender had a disappointing season with his club, who failed to lift the La Liga title on the final day of the season.

Pique had been always expected to pen a new deal at the club, but the announcement that this has been confirmed will be a welcome tonic at the Catalan club.
