Sunderland are preparing a move to sign Hamburg defender Michael Mancienne. Gus Poyet has assigned a budget to secure a move for the defender.

The defender is ready to return to England having spent three years at Hamburg and now the 26-year-old is desperate to find a Premier League team.

Mancienne had spent time playing for both Wolves and Chelsea and is now ready to find a third English team.
