Frank Lampard to leave Chelsea

Long serving Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has been told that he is free to leave the club. The 35-year-old England vice-captain's contract at Stamford Bridge expired today, on June 1st.
Jose Mourinho had been in contact with Lampard for over a month keeping the midfielder well informed about his long term plan for the Blues, but today it has now been confirmed that Lampard is not a part of Mourinho's vision for the future.
The player, who is currently busy preparing for England's World Cup tournament in Brazil starting on June 12, is expected to continue playing on after England return home.
New York City are amongst the teams interested in Lampard, whilst there has also been interest from Premier League sides QPR and Sunderland.
