McLeish to build spirit

Ahead of Birmingham's game with Tottenham, their new boss Alex McLeish has called on the Blues to rebuild their spirit to help ease their way back into the right half of the table and to snap up some good results.

He said: "When you have a run of poor results, it does get to the players. We have to rebuild that confidence and get them to believe in themselves.

"There is nothing like a good result for confidence. Even a good performance can do it. If we get a good showing at Tottenham we can take everything forward from there," he said.

"Getting something at White Hart Lane will be fantastic for confidence. We know there is a crucial period coming up but the players should see it as a challenge."
