Barcelona make bid for Jan Vertonghen

Barcelona have tabled an offer for Belgian defender Jan Vertonghen. The Tottenham centre back told his agent last week that he would consider a move away from the Premier League to Spain.

Barcelona have been linked with a move for Vertonghen for several months and now it appears that an official offer has been made. Whilst Tottenham are known to be desperate to keep hold of the Belgium international, Spurs are renowned for their skill when pushing interested teams for big prices for their players.

Spurs are understood to value Vertonghen at around 20 million Euros, some way off of the 10 million Euros that Barcelona are ready to pay.

Despite the massive difference in both valuations, Barcelona are confident that a deal can be wrapped up by the end of July and Vertonghen will be a Barca player in time for the new season.
