Juventus to beat Arsenal to star defender

Juventus are believed to be in pole position to sign FC Basel defender Fabian Schar, according to a report.

The Gunners have been recently linked with a move for the Swiss international, with manager Arsene Wenger keen on strengthening the club's back line in the upcoming transfer window.

According to Evening Standard, Juve look set to beat the Gunners to the 22-year-old's signature.

The report adds that the player's agent has been in contact with the Serie A giants and Schar is happy with the terms on offer.
