A Messi Business: 5 Reasons why Lionel Messi will never leave Barcelona

Lionel Messi news

The rumours of 'The little Magician' being unhappy at Barcelona just wont go away. However, there are 5 very good reasons as to why he will be going nowhere. Not just this season, but for the rest of his career.

He's made his life in Spain Lionel Messi started playing for Barcelona when he was just 11, after he and his father moved from Argentina to get treatment paid for by Barcelona for a growth hormone deficiency. He has a son born in November 2012 so it's clear that any move away from the Catalan club will mean considerable upheaval for his family.

He loves FC Barcelona When you think of Barcelona, your next thought is (or should be) Messi. His very being is intertwined with the recent history of it. In a rare moment of exuberance, he repeatedly kissed his shirt badge during the 4-3 away win against Real Madrid last season. He clearly adores the club.

He doesn't need the money The man is paid around 37m Euro's a year (Thirty Seven Million Euros), he has multi-million Euro sponsorship deals from Adidas, Konami, Pepsi, KFC (among others). A move to another club would potentially give him more, but it's doubtful he needs it. Even if Messi did feel uncomfortable with being at Barcelona currently, his personality and lack of ego (basically the opposite of other recent Balon D'Or winners) plus the amount of money he has already, demonstrates that he is at Barcelona for the long haul.

His buyout clause

There are only 3 clubs who could possibly afford the 300 million Euro's it would take to activate Lionel Messi's buyout clause (financial fair play rules to one side.) These are: 1. Real Madrid  2. Chelsea and 3. Manchester City. Because of their rivalry, Real Madrid wouldn't even insult Barcelona by offering this and the other 2 clubs cannot possibly challenge the history or grandeur of the Catalan Giants. Even if they did approach with an offer, other than money what could they give him?

He's bigger than Louis Enrique Messi's stats show that he's scored a quite ridiculous 262 goals in 296 appearances. He is a Catalan Legend. There maybe more to the rumours that Messi and Louis Enrique have had a bust up, but if fans had to pick between the Head Coach and their number 10, it will be the coach who would need to pack his bags. This will not be lost on the Barcelona hierarchy and they will almost certainly do everything they can to keep him.
