Kai Havertz injury spell confirmed
Arsenal forward Kai Havertz sustained a knee injury at the end of the Gunners' 1-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford, and will be out for a lengthy spell. Havertz also picked up a serious injury last season, and this newest setback will leave him on the sidelines for between 8-12 weeks.
Rumours of a more significant ACL injury have been rejected, and now the burly German forward will be missing likely until Christmas, and will be able to be reintroduced to first-team action in the New Year.
The arrival of Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace is soon expected, likely to be announced on Friday, and so a replacement playmaker will be available for Arteta.
However, the loss of Havertz is a major setback for Arsenal's expected Premier League title challenge. The Gunners did however sign Viktor Gyokeres in the summer, and now the Swedish forward is likely to play a more prominent role in the next few months with very little attacking competition. Gabriel Jesus is also still unable to return from a long-term injury.
