Liverpool want Real Madrid star

Liverpool are believed to have made a summer bid for Real Madrid midfielder Asier Illarramendi.

The 25-year-old has struggled for game-time at the Bernabeu this season, and is expected to seek a fresh challenge away from the club in the summer.

Arsenal are said to be interested in the former Sociedad star, with reports claiming that the club will move for a new holding midfielder in the off-season.

However, Spanish source Marca claims that the Reds have made an offer to acquire the services of the former Spain youth international.

Real Madrid currently value Illarramendi at £23m.
