Tottenham Hotspur release Emmanuel Adebayor

Tottenham Hotspur have announced the departure of Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor by mutual consent.

Adebayor failed to earn a move away from White Hart Lane during the transfer window, and this has led to the speculation that the player may seek a termination of his contract.

Spurs have now confirmed that they have parted with the former Arsenal striker.

"We wish Emmanuel well for the future." a short statement on the club's website read.

The 31-year-old notched 42 goals in 97 appearances for Spurs between 2011 and 2015.
