Everton ponder Vlaar swoop

Everton are reportedly considering whether or not to make a move for free-agent Ron Vlaar.

The Netherlands international suffered a serious knee injury following his release from Aston Villa last summer, and this forced him to spend several months on the sidelines.

Vlaar has been training with former club AZ Alkmaar in recent weeks with the aim to move to a new club in the New Year.

According to The Liverpool Echo, the Toffees are keen to offer a contract to Vlaar provided he can prove his fitness after the knee injury.

The 30-year-old made 134 appearances for the Villans between 2012 and 2015.
