Obi Mikel set for Chelsea extension

Nigerian international John Obi Mikel looks set to earn a new deal at Chelsea following his impressive showing this season.

The 28-year-old decided to stay put at the Blues last summer in spite of being deemed surplus to requirements. 

With the dismissal of Jose Mourinho, Mikel has been given a lifeline at Stamford Bridge, and this has helped him cement a regular place in the starting line-up.

According to The Mirror, the Blues' hierarchy will offer a contract extension to the combative midfielder after his resurgence under interim boss Guus Hiddink.

Mikel has made over 350 appearances for his club till date.
