Pique not interested in joining City because of United loyalty

Speaking after FC Barcelona's 2-1 victory over Sevilla at the weekend, Gerard Pique stated that he wouldn't consider joining Manchester City at any point as rivals United still hold a place in his heart.

“My love for Manchester United is too big to let me even consider signing for City one day, even with Guardiola in charge” said the Spanish centre-back.

Pique joined United as a teenager and remained at Old Trafford until 2008, when he rejoined his boyhood club Barcelona.

Happy to remain at the Camp Nou for years to come, the 29-year-old says that when he eventually leaves Barça he would like to play in the homeland of his celebrity partner: “I would like to try out a different league for a couple of years at some point before I retire. I don't know whether Colombia might be an option for me, but only because of Shakira. But you can never predict what'll happen in the future.”
