Gilardino to Newcastle?

Newcastle have been linked with the shock signing of AC Milan striker Alberto Gilardino. The former Verona striker has fallen out of favour at the Rossoneri and Newcastle are preparing an enormous £10 million offer to land the Italian striker.

Juventus and Fiorentina are both also monitoring the player's situation, but Gilardino may be more tempted to play in the Premiership where he will earn more money.

Gilardino has fallen out of favour at Milan as Alexandre Pato has been given his role on the bench. Pato scored his first goal against Napoli at the weekend and put in an outstanding performance.

Carlo Ancelotti does not hide his preference: "If Ronaldo and Pato go on like this, he will play less."

Comments like this have put several clubs on high alert for the striker.
