Arsenal to trigger Alexandre Lacazette release clause

Arsenal are prepared to activate the release clause in Alexandre Lacazette's contract after being priced out of a move for Alvaro Morata. The Lyon striker has recently snubbed an approach from West Ham United as he aims to ply his trade for a top European club.
Lacazette was strongly linked with a move to the Premier League last year before he opted to pen a long-term deal with Les Gones. Since then, the 25-year-old has kept up his performance levels, thus leading to suggestions he could seek a fresh challenge sooner rather than later.
Sources suggest that the Frenchman is keen on a move to the English top flight only if he receives an offer from a Champions League club.
The Gunners have been long-time admirers of the marksman, and it is believed they are open to triggering his £34m escape clause this summer.
Arsene Wenger's side were previously interested in Morata until they were put off by Real Madrid's £57m valuation.
Lacazette has netted 76 goals in his last three seasons for the French outfit.
