Paul Pogba news

United wasting no time with Pogba bid

Manchester United are hoping to wrap up a deal to sign Paul Pogba from Juventus as soon as possible, for fear that Real Madrid could yet move for the Frenchman, according to reports in Italy.

La Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that, now that Paul Pogba's involvement in the UEFA European Championship has come to an end after France's final defeat to Portugal last night, United are set to accelerate their move to sign the 23-year-old midfielder from Juventus.

La Gazzetta dello Sport also claims that United will pay €100 million plus €23 million in bonuses to Juventus, and offer to almost treble Pogba's current wages by paying the player €15 million per season.

The report also claims that the Red Devils' urgency to get the deal across the line is due to their fear that Real Madrid will swoop for the France international.

But reports in Spain last week claimed that the eleven-time European Champions have ended their interest in signing Pogba as they are unwilling to pay the kind of transfer fee that would be required, leaving United as the only club in the race to sign the talented midfielder.

So now it will come down to whether Juventus are willing to sell for what would be a world record breaking transfer fee, and whether Pogba wants to leave Turin to rejoin the club he left as a teenager in 2011.
