Man Utd and Juventus in for Sissoko

Moussa Sissoko news

Could United be about to swoop for Sissoko?

Manchester United and Juventus are both weighing up offers for Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko, according to reports in France.

Le 10 Sport claim that both United and Italian champions Juventus are ready to move for Sissoko, who is keen to move away from Newcastle, after the north east club were relegated from the Premier League last season.

Sissoko was impressive throughout the recent UEFA European Championship, in which he was a key figure in France's run to the final, before eventually losing 1-0 to Portugal in extra time at the Stade de France.

United are thought to be close to re-signing Paul Pogba from Juventus, but Sissoko could be an alternative should their move to bring the 23-year-old back to Old Trafford fail.

While Juventus could be in the market for a replacement for Pogba if they decide to accept United's world record breaking £100 million bid, and Sissoko, though not possessing the type of star quality that Pogba has, would be a reasonable option stylistically.

Sissoko signed for Newcastle from Toulouse for £1.5 million three years ago. The 26-year-old has put in some impressive performances during his time on Tyneside, but Magpies fans have grown frustrated at his lack of consistency.

It is thought that Newcastle will look for €20 million for Sissoko, and would be unwilling to begin negotiations at any fee that doesn't meet that mark. Sissoko would very much desire a move away, to continue to play top flight football.
