West Brom want Watfords Ighalo

Ighalo is on the Baggies' radar

West Bromich Albion are set to launch a sensational bid to sign Odion Ighalo from Premier League rivals Watford, according to reports.

Sky Sports News reported yesterday that West Brom are set to turn their attention to signing Ighalo from Watford, having missed out on West Ham United's Diafra Sakho.

Sakho was on the brink of sealing a move to the Hawthorns only to see the deal collapse when he failed a medical.

West Brom are thought to be in the market for a new striker as they prepare to allow Saido Berahino to leave the club, with Stoke City leading the race to sign the £20 million rated 23-year-old England-under-21 international.

Berahino was the subject of a £24 million bid from Tottenham Hotspur last summer, but the Baggies refused to sell the young hit man, with the player voicing his displeasure on social media.

But it now appears that West Brom are ready to chash in on Berahino, with Ighalo seen as the perfect replacement and foil for Salomón Rondón in the Baggies' front line.

Watford have already rejected a £38 million offer from the Chinese Super League for Ighalo this summer, so West Brom will have to break the bank in order to get their man.

Their current transfer record is the £12 milion fee paid to Zenit St Petersburg for Rondón last summer; they will likely have to treable that for Ighalo.
