Paul Pogba news

Man Utd finally land Paul Pogba

Manchester United have confirmed that they have sealed an agreement to sign former player and Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba. The Frenchman is undergoing a medical with the Red Devils after they settled on an initial £93m fee for his services.

Pogba has been strongly linked with a return to Old Trafford in recent months, and it is now official that he will pen a four-year contract.

Following United's 2-1 win over Leicester City in the Community Shield yesterday, coach Jose Mourinho revealed his pleasure at getting hold of a 'fantastic' player.

"Finally. It's amazing that such a good player is with us. Finally we have him," he told reporters.

"He comes to a winning side - a team who have won their last two matches, the FA Cup and today. He has to work hard to come (in)to the team.

"He (Pogba) is a fantastic player. If everything goes well he's a very important player but we have a great squad.

"I think United is the perfect club to bring him to the level that he wants to be."

Pogba will be the world's most expensive footballer breaking the previous record held by Gareth Bale's £85m switch to Real Madrid in 2013.

The midfielder is unlikely to be fit for the Premier League opener against Bournemouth after he was given an extended rest by Juventus for his exploits with France at Euro 2016.
