De Boer fancies Joao Mario

New Inter Milan boss Frank De Boer has already set his sights on new signings, with the Dutchman keen to bring in Joao Mario from Sporting CP, according to reports in Italy.

De Boer was confirmed as the new Inter boss today, replacing the departed Roberto Mancini, who agreed to leave the club by mutual consent yesterday.

With just two weeks to go before the new Serie A season kicks off, De Boer will want to hit the ground running with the Nerazzurri, and Italian sports newspaper the Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that the former Ajax manager has identified Joao Mario as a key target.

The 23-year-old Portuguese midfielder has been linked with move to Inter for some time, and it appears that De Boer is keen for that deal to happen.

Sporting will not allow Joao Mario to leave on the cheap however, and Inter may well have to sell before they can buy.

Croation midfielder Marcelo Brozovic could be one of the player sold in order to raise funds for the Portuguese attacking midfielder.

Joao Mario represented Portugal at the recent UEFA European Championship in France, helping Fernando Santos' men complete an incredible triumph, beating the host nation 1-0 in the Final to claim their first ever major trophy.

Joao Mario has been at Sporting since he was 11 years old and has made 75 senior appearances for the club.
