Boro allow Spurs and Woodgate talks

Spurs are understood to be holding talks with Middlesbrough defender Jonathan Woodgate.

The defender has attracted a host of permiership clubs most notably Newcastle, however it looks like Spurs are set to capture the signing of the 28 year old.

It is no secret that Tottenham have struggled defensively, and Woodgate could be the answer to a lot of their defensive problems.

Spurs assistant boss Gus Poyet said: "I hope they can get in touch with him and try to sort something out as he's a great player.

"He is definitely one of the options we are looking for."
