Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini had informed his agent to speak with Chinese clubs ahead of last week's transfer deadline.

The Belgian international, who has been in-and-out of the Red Devils lineup, was keen on a switch to the Far East prior to the close of the Chinese transfer window.

The 29-year-old has mostly been used in the Cup games this season, and this urged him to consider a last minute move to China.

Speaking to The Mail, Tianjin Quanjian boss Fabio Cannavaro admitted that Fellaini could have become the next high-profile signing in his squad, but the player did not match the club's requirements.

"He was offered to me, but I told his agent that I was looking for a different profile." the World Cup winner told the source.

Fellaini has largely struggled to make an impression at Old Trafford, having netted just 12 goals since his £27.5m move from Everton in the summer of 2013.
