Manchester United to reward Mourinho with new contract

Jose Mourinho's good first season at Manchester United is set to see him offered a new contract

After what many are reviewing as a successful first season in charge at Old Trafford, Manchester United are set to offer manager Jose Mourinho a new five year contract.

Mourinho's first season in charge at the club has seen his team lift the Community Shield, EFL Cup and the Europa League, which as a result sees the club qualify for next season's Champions League.

Although The Red Devils finished sixth in the Premier League, the fact that they will be playing in Europe's elite competition next season, combined with their first ever Europa League victory, has left the supporters very pleased with the work that the Portuguese manager has done.

Old Trafford bosses seem to agree with the view of the supporters, with a new five year deal set to be offered to Mourinho, according to The Express. Jose Mourinho is hoping to spend big this summer on new signings, and his successes this season will help to persuade the board to provide the large sums of money that he is looking to spend.

With a reported budget of around £200 million to spend during the next transfer window, Manchester United will once again look to seriously compete in both domestic and European competitions.
