Huddersfield Town chase Kenyan international
Huddersfield Town has tabled a bid for Kenyan international footballer Teddy Akumu, according to reports from the player's homeland. The 24-year-old midfielder currently plays for Zambian league champions ZESCO.
Reports from Africa suggest that the player has been scouted for several months by the newly promoted Premier League side, who are looking to bolster their side with defensive players.
Akumu has one year remaining on his current contract at ZESCO and could be available for a fee of around $400,000. The midfielder previously played for Gor Mahia and Al Khartoum before making the move to Zambia and is highly regarded across the African continent.
Other Premier League teams have been tracking the player's progress and it is understood that Southampton have sent their scouts to monitor Akumu's progress in recent months.
The 24-year-old has over 30 caps for his country and will be key in Kenya's push to qualify for the World Cup in Russia in 2018. Akumu made his debut for his country in 2011.
