Juan Mata turns down prospective China move
Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has turned down the opportunity of a big-money move to the Chinese Super League.
The Spain international is out of contract at Old Trafford in June 2018, although United have the option of a year's extension.
According to The Mirror, Mata's representatives were sounded out about a potential move to the Far East in the coming transfer window.
However, the former Chelsea man has snubbed an increase on his current £165,000-a-week wages in order to prolong his stay at United.
Mata has become an influential player under Mourinho this term, having featured in all seven Premier League outings from the right wing.
The former Valencia man has amassed 155 appearances for the Red Devils since his move from Chelsea in January 2014.
He has slowly become a favourite among the Old Trafford faithful, but talks over a long-term deal are yet to progress beyond the speculation phase.
Mata is in line to make his seventh Premier League start of the campaign when Manchester United visit Anfield to take on Liverpool this weekend.
