Antonio Conte sends message to Michy Batshuayi after Watford heroics
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has urged Michy Batshuayi to work harder following his stunning performance in the 4-2 win over Watford. The Belgium international notched a brace coming on as a second-half substitute versus the Hornets.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Conte was impressed by the showing of the 24-year-old and insisted that he should work in a similar way in order to earn regular playing time.
"It was good for Michy to score two goals. He had an impact in the game and I’m very happy for him," he told Sky Sports following the triumph.
"The goals were important for the team and important for the confidence, but Michy has to continue to work this way and show with every chance he deserves to play."
Meanwhile, Conte refused to criticise Alvaro Morata for his lack of impact in the match and stressed that the Spaniard was fatigued following his recent Champions League outing against AS Roma.
Chelsea host Everton in the fourth round of the League Cup on Wednesday night and Batshuayi is likely to be fancied to lead the line. The former Marseille man notched a brilliant hat-trick in the 5-1 thumping of Nottingham Forest, and this pretty much assures him of a starting spot against the Toffees.
